Week 9 Wednesday

Good morning Year 3!

How are we all doing today?

Let’s have a look at what you guys have been up to!

Jackson produced some great work for our Literacy session!

Jack sent in his fabulous research on Ruby Bridges. Really impressed with this and with your own views. Well done!

Isla has been working hard on our written work and planted some spinach and coriander seeds. How exciting!

Before reading the story opening today, look at the words listed below using

Write the words down. Discuss meanings and similar words (synonyms) with an adult. Exploring these words now will help you to understand the story later.

Read and enjoy the opening to Yours Sincerely, Giraffe by Megumi Iwasa

Return to the word list and spot the words in
the story. Discuss these words within the story and what they mean. Now explore the wordslonely and bored on Find similar words (synonyms) and write them down.
Discuss how the giraffe is feeling.
Write short sentences to create a mini poem, including the new words you have found, e.g.
Giraffe is feeling lonely.
Giraffe is feeling unloved.
Giraffe is feeling unwanted.
Giraffe is feeling outcast. etc.

Publish your poem by writing it in your best handwriting or typing it. Add some images or illustrations.

Jump on reading eggs, some certificates have come through today ready for Friday’s special announcements! How exciting!

Or, you can listen to The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton – I’d highly recommend only missing on reading egg session to listen to this book for 20 minutes or so.

Has anybody listened to it yet? What do you think?
