Remembrance Day

Today, we visited the highest memorial in England for Remembrance Day. We lay a poppy wreath on the memorial and our Year 6's read the Flander's Field poem beautifully. We listened to The Last Post and then showed our respect in silence for 2 minutes.

Mrs Rothwell, Mrs Ewens and Miss Stott were very proud of Year 4's mature attitude.

"I never gave up walking up the big hill because each time I felt like giving up I thought of the soldiers who sacrificed their life for us." - Isabel.

"When we walked to the memorial, I saw many people I knew. They were also being quiet for the silence. I find staying quiet very hard but I made sure I was quiet because I just thought of the soldiers and how scared they were and how they didn't give up." - Millie.

"It was very very nice to stand there and even though I got cold, I know that people in the army would have been very cold too." - Hewan.
