Cross Curricular Maths
As part of our Cross Curricular Maths Day, Year 5 took part in a range of activities based around the theme of position and direction. In Geography we looked at compass points and directions between various points in the United Kingdom. For History we looked at a modern map of Bacup and one from the Victorian era. We compared and contrasted them and used grid references and coordinates to identify changes over time. On the computers we used a programme to create our own maze game then guided each other around our mazes using positional language. We learned some positional and directional phrases in French. Using all the 1p and 2p coins we had collected fro charity, we did some money calculations and we then went outside to see how could make the longest row of coins on the yard. Year 5 won this as we had collected so many coins! Thank you very much for your donations.
