Northern is an amazing place for our children to learn. In our latest news section we will share with you the latest events taking place across the school. More detailed information can be found on your child's class website page.
Today our Year 6 children took part in a workshop delivered by Dena and Adam from the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. They took part in an activity whose ultimate message was to never judge a person on how they look. Dena and Adam said they were amazed by the children's behaviour and mature attitudes so well done!
Today some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children went to the Valley to take part in an Athletics competition where just the taking part is celebrated and having fun is the important part. The children had an amazing time and loved every one of the events! Well done Year 3 and Year 4!
Today our Year 2 children had a visit from the Fire Service. They spoke with the children of Year 2 and 3 and taught them all about the dangers of fire and how to keep themselves and their families safe. The children listened very well and our visitors were impressed with the attentiveness! Well done!
Today the Fire Service came to speak with Year 6 all about Road Safety. The children learnt all about how to stay safe near the roads, how distractions can be dangerous and how to avoid serious accidents. The children listened fantastically well and the fire fighters were very impressed with the questions and responses. Well done Year 6!
Today we have seen lots of yellow, sparkles, spots, onesies, pyjamas and Pudsey ears! The children have looked fab all day and have raised lots of money to help those less fortunate than themselves. The competition winners were announced in assembly and each winner has received their prize. The winners were (from Reception to Year 6): Poppy, Jessica, Ellie, Aimee, Ava, Mason and Kyla! Well done to everyone!
Today some of our Year 5 and 6 children took part in a fun athletics competition where children can simply just enjoy the activities and have fun without the competitive edge. The children loved this event and had great fun completing the activities. Special mention to Hannah who won a medal for excellent team spirit! Well done everyone!
Today we discovered that we raised the most money for Rossendale Hospice during October's Penny Pinching Challenge in the Primary School category. Thank you so much everyone for all of your support. It is great to see yet again that no matter how difficult times may be for members of our school community we are always so enthusiastic to help others. Thanks to your tremendous efforts and generosity we raised an amazing £532.72 (£2.73 per pupil).

This week we as a school covered One Kind Word Week which we combined with our anti-bullying week. We focussed on how kind words make us feel and how they can make others feel. The children came up with some amazing ideas of how they could be kind and produced some fab work in class. Well done Northern!
This week our Year 5 children have been taking part in Bikeability. They have learnt how to keep both themselves, their bikes and others safe! They worked hard for the instructors and got to learn the skills and then practise them on the roads too! Well done Year 5!
Today, 19 of our Year 6 children went to represent Northern in the Athletics competition at The Valley Academy. They performed exceptionally well and even managed to win the Best Team Spirit award which made me a very proud teacher! Well done Year 6!
