  • Father Christmas comes to visit Northern

    Thu 21 Dec 2017
It is true! Northern is filled with well-behaved children who have been good all year - well that is according to Father Christmas when he made a flying visit to Northern this morning to deliver presents to all of the children.
  • Reception Christmas Nativity

    Tue 19 Dec 2017

Our Reception children performed an amazing Nativity for all of their mums, dads, grandmas, grandads and families this afternoon. The children were so confident in their acting skills and their singing - it could have been our junior children performing. I know I wasn't alone in feeling so proud and emotional as I watched them perform.

Reception - you are amazing super stars.

  • Rights Respecting School Award - Recognition of Commitment

    Mon 18 Dec 2017
I am very pleased to announce that the school has been awarded the ‘Recognition of Commitment’ (Bronze) stage of the Rights Respecting School Award which confirms that Northern is on track to becoming rights respecting. Mrs Egan and Mrs Topping have worked hard to lead the staff and children on the beginning of this journey. Now we move on to achieving Level 1 and developing the school further in its quest to ensure that our children become the best they can possibly be.
  • Christmas Jumper Day

    Mon 18 Dec 2017
The school suddenly became very festive on Friday as children and staff swapped their school jumpers for a Christmas jumper. All of the children and staff who wore their Christmas jumper donated £1 of their spending money to Save the Children to help children who are less fortunate than they are. This was another great step in the school's move towards achieving the Rights Respecting School status.
  • Year 1 and Year 2 Christmas Performance ' A Magical Journey'

    Mon 18 Dec 2017
Our Year 1 and Year 2 children successfully wowed both of their audiences with sensational acting performances. The audiences were entertained by actors who remembered their clear, audible voices. There was an array of singing, dancing and actions as the children retold 'The Magical Journey' based upon the Christmas Story. Well done to you all!
  • Christmas Bauble Workshop

    Thu 14 Dec 2017
The children enjoyed an amazing day on Thursday when every child took part in a ceramic art workshop which saw them design and create their very own Christmas bauble. This event could not have taken place without funding from the PTA towards the cost of this. For more photos of your child taking part in their class workshop please visit the class page of your child.
  • Carols at Deerplay Care Home

    Wed 13 Dec 2017
This afternoon the children in Year 6 did an amazing task. They walked to Deerplay Care Home and sang for the residents. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the mix of traditional and modern carols and songs and gave the children a huge round of applause. The children then chatted to the residents and both the staff and residents were delighted and impressed by both the children's singing and manners. It was a lovely community event for the children to take part in.
  • A Christmas Carol

    Wed 13 Dec 2017
Today at Northern the children in Key Stage 2 were treated to an amazing performance of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol by the Manchester Actors Company. Our hall was brought to life by these fantastic actors who transported us through time and told us all about Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly visits on Christmas Eve. There were 3 actors who played a total of 18 parts! The children then had a question and answer session with the actors and they asked some super questions. The actors' parting comments were how fantastic the children were and that they would love to come back again.
  • Carols Around the Tree

    Thu 07 Dec 2017
On Wednesday 6th December, Year 5 and 6 children performed at the Carols Around the Tree service in Bacup. The children performed 'Merry Christmas Everyone', 'Silent Night' and 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' and they sounded fabulous. They were led by Sean Ruane who had also been into school to help Northern voices be at their best. Massive thanks must go to all the parents and children who attended and braved our rainy weather!
