Week 12 Monday

Good morning Year 3!

Well, deary me. It's a bit dreary! Unfortunately, this is going to last all week too.

Maybe dig out your wellies and splash in some puddles? I still enjoy doing that, haha!

Let's have a look at what you've been up to...

Jack worked hard on his subtractions sums!

Isla has also worked hard on her subtraction.

Max worked hard on subtraction then cooled off in the pool!

Okay my lovelies!

Let's get learning...

Literacy

This week our theme is Monster Mayhem!

I hope the work I get is as good as the Up, Up and Away theme - I loved your inventions!

Watch and enjoy the story of The Monster Crisp-Guzzler by Malorie Blackman:

Watch up to 10:02 mins. Make sure you stop at this point!

Discuss these questions together: What do you think is going to happen? Will someone save Mira? Who might that be? What do you think will happen at the end of the story?

Write the next part of the story with your version of what you think happens. Remember to write as if you are Mira and in the past tense.

Now watch the ending and compare to your ending! The Monster Crisp Guzzler by Malorie Blackman:

Which ending do you prefer? Why?

Reading

More Reading Eggs please.

I THINK I have set you a task, it should have worked but who knows!

If not, Please read a book and complete the quizzes.

Don't forget - you can also choose one day to listen to some of The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton.

The link is at the top of the page.

Maths

Bit different today, we've got a true challenge on our hands. I would like you to use all your place value knowledge to help you tackle this great game developed by the Lancashire Team. I have been playing with the Year 5s and 6s in school and had great fun!

Watch this clip to show you how to play then all the resources you need are underneath.

Have fun! Send in pictures of you playing!

Topic

Like I promised, we're going to move away from plants (don't forget to take care of yours) and learn about something different during our topic time.

This week, we're going to learn about dragons!

  • What do you already know about dragons?
  • Make a list of any stories, films or games you know that have dragons in them
  • What words can you add to describe dragons?
  • What else do you know about dragons?

Start a list called Dragon Facts!

Have a great day!
