I am delighted to announce that Northern Primary school have now become a myHappymind school. myHappymind is an NHS backed and award winning preventative mental health and wellbeing program for Primary schools and is already successfully operating in many Lancashire schools. This week we kicked off with a launch in our whole school assembly, where all the children got to learn about the programme and meet the special characters, including HAP! This was followed by the children's first myHappymind lesson in class, where they received their new reflective journals and began to learn about how our brain works! There is a real buzz around the school and the children love it when HAP visits their classroom!

  • Local MP visits Year 3!

    Mon 08 Jan 2024 L Davies

At the end of the Autumn term as part of  a local geography topic, Year 3 wrote a letter to the local MP for Rossendale and Darwen, Sir Jake Berry about the state of the local bingo ball on Burnley Road.. Little did they think they would get a visit in person to discuss the issue! As well as talking about the building, they discussed other local issues, like the fountain in the middle of town, local parks, and of course that favourite, potholes on the roads! They also found out how Parliament works, what an MP is and does and how new laws are made. This included a few mini-debates where Year 3 became Parliament on the important issues of serving hot chocolate in schools and whether Rossendale should be a no-fly zone!
