  • Mental Health Awareness Day

    Sun 10 Oct 2021

    At Northern, the whole school community collaborates to ensure the well-being of every individual - child or adult - is nurtured. Circle time this week was dedicated to sharing thoughts about how we can support each other to achieve physical and mental wellbeing. The following slides share ideas of how we can all work together towards achieving Article 24. If you would like to watch the videos on these slides then visit our Rights Respecting School page where you will find the power-point.

  • Seven children selected to try out for the Town Team Trials

    Fri 08 Oct 2021

    This week, seven of our talented footballers were selected to take part in the Town Trials for Bacup Football Club. 150 pupils from local schools attended the town team trials along with our seven pupils. Out of these pupils, 30 children were selected to go through to the next stage. Four Northern pupils are now in this final stage to form a team of 16 footballers. Remember how amazing you are and keep believing and shooting for the stars.

  • European Languages Day

    Sat 02 Oct 2021 Mrs Ewens

    Well what a week we have had at Northern!  We have travelled around Europe learning all about different countries.  Here is the country each year group have been learning about.  Have a look at class pages to find out more.

    Malta = Reception

    Lithuania = Year 1

    Belgium = Year 2

    Cyprus = Year 3

    Slovakia = Year 4

    Austria = Year 5

    Estonia = Year 6

    Throughout Europe, 800 million Europeans are represented in the Council of Europe's 47 member states and all are encouraged to discover more languages at any age, as part of or alongside their studies. This stems from the Council of Europe’s conviction that linguistic diversity is a tool for achieving greater intercultural understanding and a key element in the rich cultural heritage of our continent. Therefore, the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, promotes plurilingualism in the whole of Europe.

    At the Council of Europe’s initiative, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001 on 26 September - together with the European Commission.
