Today our children looked very different! Around the school, all we could see were pyjamas and dressing gowns! We did this to celebrate 2 amazing stories that have stood the test of time and which are celebrating anniversaries. All classes have been taking part in activities that revolve around these stories and it was great to see a hall full of smiley faces!
Today our Year 4 and 6 children have taken part in a Viking Workshop. Our visitor brought a range of artefacts and the children learnt all about the Vikings and what life was like back in Viking times. The children have had a great time and it was lovely to see all their happy smiley faces.
Today our Year 6 netball team represented Northern at the Rossendale High Five Netball Competition. They had qualified to be amongst the top 6 schools in Rossendale and the girls played extremely well and showed outstanding sportsmanship which Nathan Bibby - Rossendale Sports Partnership manager - commented on during the presentation. Well done girls!
Today our Year 3 children were lucky enough to go on a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. The children took part in 3 workshops. The first was a Wonder of Light workshop where the children saw a variety of experiments involving light. The second was called Experimental Flow and involved an interactive workshop about all the areas of Science and finally they watched the Forces and Flight show where the children learnt all about magnets and air resistance. They had a fantastic day and were amazed by all they learnt and saw.
Today in school, we held our annual May Fair. This is an event ran by the PTA which allows families to come along and win prizes, play games, browse the stalls, have a cup of coffee, have something to eat and generally have a great time meeting everyone in a relaxed environment. The fair was opened by the Britannia Coconutters and we were entertained by the Rossendale Scout Band and Fusion Dance group. The event was a huge success and raised over £1000! A massive thank you to all volunteers, staff and attendees. Without you, it would not be possible to raise such a great amount of money for the children!
This afternoon our LKS2 cricket team attended an inter-schools cricket competition at Bacup Cricket Club. The children played well and showed great sportsmanship. They finished 4th overall and had a great time! Well done team!
Today our Year 3 and 4 football team travelled to Crawshawbooth Primary School to take part in a football match. The children played to a very high standard and as a result of their teamwork and skill, managed to win the match! Well done boys!
