Remote Learning Week 3 Day 2

Good Morning Year 3!

I've just been looking at the class photo at the top of the page, wish I would have taken an Easter picture... looks a bit silly with Christmas jumpers now doesn't it?! But I love seeing all your smiley faces!

I also love all the emails I got yesterday! So many of you working so hard, let's have a look at what you have been up to...

Jackson searched for the definition of all the exciting words he found in the first three chapters of The Twits. He also scoured the house and found some great 3D shapes. Lovely work Jackson!

Isla has been enjoying some arts and crafts over the Easter holidays, she created a beautiful caterpillar and some gorgeous little bunnies! While enjoying her daily exercise, she's spotted some farm animals. How cute are those little piglets?! Isla also worked super hard on her Literacy and Maths work yesterday! Excellent efforts, Isla!

Hannah said she's looking forward to listening to the rest of The Twits. Hannah also picked out some brilliant vocabulary from the book;

Revolting - Repulsive , disgusting

Terrifically - In a terrific or extreme way.

Twit - A foolish or annoying person.

Bristles - Plural of bristle - A stiff or coarse hair

Specks - Plural of speck - Speck - A tiny spot, especially of dirt.

Crooked -  Not straight having one or more bends.

Hannah let me know that she has been busy finding objects for the shapes challenge and has been working hard on reading eggs. Let's hope you can earn that trophy, Hannah!

Hannah has also been reading her own book " The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch" Can't wait to hear how the story ends!

Kaden has made catapults, Viking boats and has been learning about the Vikings and the Romans.

Kaden has also written all about his favourite book and started to read The Faraway Tree, another personal favourite of mine!

Over Easter, Kaden has been doing some Easter based RE activities and prayer hands. His brother, Leo, helped deliver Easter Eggs to families from Church. The family have been going on lots of walks and managed to spot some highland cows and learnt about iron in the soil. Busy, busy, busy Kaden. Excellent work!

Miley N has been busy over the Easter holidays completing an Easter egg hunt in the village! People decorated eggs and hung them in their windows then the children in the village use a map and find the address of each house with the eggs in the window. All the children and families seem to have had so much fun and stayed safe social distancing. Miley and her little brother, Brody, won first prize from the egg hunt! They were both very, very happy! Miley also decorated her window at home for the NHS. Miley has been painting rocks and hiding them for other children to find and she has also been finding other children's rocks. Miley found some 3D objects around the home yesterday too! Busy, busy, busy Miley!

Guess Who!

Can you believe I forgot all about Guess Who yesterday?!

Miss Collins has sent an excellent one (that I forgot to put on yesterday!)

This little girl has a very big heart. She is always smiling. Every day in school she loves updating us on her exciting evenings, always starting her sentence with "I can't wait for tonight, you want me to tell you why?" It may be going out for tea with her dad or going to the cinema, whatever it is... she always has a great time! She is super funny and makes Miss Stott and me laugh every day. She is also a super caring friend. Can you guess who?

Right! Let's get learning!

Literacy

I'm so glad we're all enjoying The Twits, Roald Dahl really is a genius, isn't he? Today, I'd like you to log in to your Purple Mash and complete the set 2Do.

You're going to create a profile for Mr Twit based on Roald Dahl's description. I have put a little check list on the 2Do for you. It will be much easier if you use the text to help you again. Follow the link below to access it again.

I can still mark on Purple Mash so I look forward to handing out some achievement stickers for today's work!

Reading

Yesterday, Year 3 spent a total of 8 hours on Reading Eggs! Woo! That's amazing! So many of you logged on and completed a level. Super proud teacher! Let's see if we can get more hours today! Try and complete a full lesson if you can, I'd love to hand out more certificates on Friday!

Maths

Excellent work with finding 3D objects yesterday team! Today, we're going to keep focusing on that new vocabulary so that it sinks in.

Follow the link below to BBC Bitesize website. Read the text, watch the videos and complete the quiz.

Spelling Practise

I have set up a spelling practise on Reading Eggspress. There are a few stages to the spelling practise and a test at the end. Try to complete them all today because Reading Eggs won't let me extend the due date, sorry! Have fun!

Geography

This is exciting! Today, we get to move on to our new Geography (and History) topic! Roman Britain. At the end of this half term, we are hopefully going to have a great bank of knowledge about Roman Britain and we're going to create an amazing end piece of work! Let's start learning about the Romans!

Follow the link below, you can use a screen reader if the key vocabulary is a little tricky but most of the writing is explained in the videos. Read the text, watch the videos and complete the quiz!

Boudicca is a VERY important character that we have to learn about, if we were in school we would watch the clip on Boudicca every single day so we could understand just how important she was, if you can, watch it a few times this week.

Health and Well Being

You might have noticed a link at the top of the class page that Miss Collins set up, she adds little activities you can complete at home. The newest activity is creating posters for keyworkers. Follow the link below to find them. If you're lucky enough to have a printer, you could print these off, colour them and place them in the window to celebrate the amazing work that keyworkers are doing for this country.

Just remember Year 3, this too shall pass.

Miss all of you more and more every day.
