Yesterday we had a look at a debate text about whether or not it was right to keep animals in zoos, and the reasons they gave for and against in each paragraph before they gave their decision in the last paragraph. What I want you do today is to have a think yourself, or research, 2 more reasons for and 2 more reasons against. We’ll set it out like how we saw it set out yesterday. A reason for, against, for, against, then your conclusion.

 

You can just set it out it bullet points if you like, e.g.

  • For: Zoos can help animals which are endangered by protecting them from hunters, making sure these rare species have good health care and…
  • Against: Animals can get bored in captivity and can even become aggressive…
  • For: Children and adults can learn a lot about animals from…
  • Against: Removing animals from their natural habitats for people to see isn’t right…
  • Conclusion: Overall I think zoos are a good/bad thing because…
