This Tuesday morning, as is tradition our wonderful Year 6 class walked up to the Deerplay Rest Home to sing some festive songs to the elderly residents there. This is a tradition that we have been doing at Northern for many, many years now and is always a lovely way to reach out to the local community and spread a little Christmas joy! The children performed fantastically, both singing and giving readings in lovely clear voices and from their faces and applause it was obvious that the residents enjoyed their visit. Afterwards we were kindly provided with a drink and snack before the children had chance to chat with the residents and listen to some of their stories about Christmas 'back in their day' including some fascinating tales from a lady who spent her childhood in Germany where their traditions differ slightly to our own.
As always the children did Northern proud and were very polite and respectful to the residents and staff, performing to a high standard that we have come to expect of them!
Well done Year 6!
