World Poetry Day workshop

Today in Year 6 we had a very special visitor. Sally-Anne came into school to deliver Poetry workshops as it was World Poetry Day. Sally-Anne works for the library service and is based in Preston where there are nearly 300,000 books! The session was fantastic fun with different activities to do. Sally-Anne animatedly read Attacked by a Banana by Michael Rosen and Bate, Bate Chocolate which was a Spanish poem that the children contributed to. Another activity was where the children were given the opportunity to bring a poem to life using their body language and actions - the poem was On a Wild Wild Walk by James Carter. They produced some fantastic animations and really impressed Sally-Anne. The final activity was the children producing a whole class 'List Poem' based on Harry Potter. Well done Year 6 on a super workshop!
