This week, Year 6 have been learning all about Road Safety and have had lots of cross-curricular lessons which have made the lessons even more relevant and the children have seen a real life link. In Maths, we carried out traffic surveys, collected data from every child at Northern on how they arrive at or leave school and played a game that linked road safety, shape and number. Have a look at the photographs attached. Also, in Science we learnt about rays of light being absorbed or reflected and linked that to why we need to stay bright at night. We also investigated stopping distances which really brought alive the danger of speed. A great week all round and the children have learnt some valuable lessons!
